Molecular Design Principles for Near‐Infrared Absorbing and Emitting Indolizine Dyes

Desirable components for dye‐sensitzed solar cell (DSC) sensitizers and fluorescent imaging dyes include strong donating building blocks coupled with well‐balanced acceptor functionalities for absorption beyond the visible range. We have evaluated the effects of increasing acceptor strengths and incorporation of dye morphology controlling groups on molar absorptivity and absorption breadth with indolizine donor‐based dyes. Indolizine‐based D –A and D –π–A sensitizers incorporating bis‐rhodanine, tricyanofuran (TCF), and cyanoacrylic acid functionalities were analyzed for performance in DSC devices. The TCF derivatives were also evaluated as near‐infrared (NIR)‐emissive materials with the AH25 emissions extending past 1000 nm.     

Synthesis of Aminopyridines and Aminopyridones by Cobalt‐Catalyzed [2+2+2] Cycloadditions Involving Yne‐Ynamides: Scope,Limitations, and Mechanistic Insights

An in‐depth study of the cobalt‐catalyzed [2+2+2] cycloaddition between yne‐ynamides and nitriles to afford aminopyridines has been carried out. About 30 nitriles exhibiting a broad range of steric demand and electronic properties have been evaluated, some of which open new perspectives in metal‐catalyzed arene formation. In particular, the use of [CpCo(CO)(dmfu)] (dmfu=dimethyl fumarate) as a precatalyst made possible the incorporation of electron‐deficient nitriles into the pyridine core. Modification of the substitution pattern at the yne‐ynamide allows the regioselectivity to be switched toward 3‐ or 4‐aminopyridines. Application of this synthetic methodology to the construction of the aminopyridone framework using a yne‐ynamide and an isocyanate was also briefly examined. DFT computations suggest that 3‐aminopyridines are formed by formal [4+2] cycloaddition between the nitrile and the intermediate cobaltacyclopentadiene, whereas 4‐aminopyridines arise from an insertion pathway.     

New gauge anomalies and topological invariants in various dimensions

The very precise combined HERA data provides a testing ground in which the relevance of novel QCD regimes, other than the successful linear DGLAP evolution, in small-x inclusive DIS data can be ascertained. We present a study of the dependence of the AAMQS fits, based on the running coupling BK non-linear evolution equations (rcBK), on the fitted dataset. This allows for the identification of the kinematical region where rcBK accurately describes the data, and thus for the determination of its applicability boundary. We compare the rcBK results with NNLO DGLAP fits, obtained with the NNPDF methodology with analogous kinematical cuts. Further, we explore the impact on LHC phenomenology of applying stringent kinematical cuts to the low-x HERA data in a DGLAP fit.
